COVID-19 Update

Due to MN Governor Executive Order 20-56, “all private and public campgrounds must remain closed to recreational camping” until June 01, 2020. This includes Bass Lake Park Campground and Fairgrounds Park Campground.

Itasca County Land and Facility Use

The County Park and Recreation Program was established in 1984 to develop, manage, maintain, and coordinate park and recreation resources throughout Itasca County. 

The Land Department provides numerous outdoor recreation opportunities through its Park System.  This program is in cooperation with the MnDNR, USFS, cities, and townships.These opportunities include parks, campgrounds, public accesses, and trails. 

The Park and Recreation Program is supported by a nine-member citizen Park and Recreation Commission and guided by the County Recreation Resources Plan.


To provide quality comprehensive recreational opportunities that are comprised of developed, semi-developed, and undeveloped areas, facilities, and program services throughout the lands and waters of Itasca County for current and future generations.
